Her Majesty's Clockwork Army
A post on steamfashion made me nostalgic for my eight years living down the road from the Park. Checking the events listing for the Crystal Palace Park Association I notice this is happening:|
A Park Walkabout (with that Logie Baird Difference)
Saturday 10th November / Sunday 11th November /
Sunday 18th November
Organised by the Joseph Paxton Society
"Join us for a walkabout in the Park that explores the history and legacy of John Logie Baird and the role of Crystal Palace Park in the development of British Television. We will visit the sites of the studios, the design laboratories, the transmitters and the manufacturing plant. It will include a brief talk on the BBC transmitter and a tour of the exhibit ‘JLB – The Sydenham Years’ and the display at the Crystal Palace Museum. We probably can’t help mentioning a bit about Paxton and the Palace along the way."
Saturday & Sunday, November 10th – 11th
Sunday November 18th
Walkabouts start at 1pm from the Park Information Centre, Thicket Road (Penge Entrance)
There is no charge for these Walkabouts.
I'm actually in London next weekend, and I should be collecting stations for tubewhore, but if there's a punking ccontingent that fancy a trip out to Sydenham, then I'd love a chance to pose with the Sphinxes. Anyone game? Meet at London Victoria or Gipsy Hill stations.
